Community Learning Space Opens
Date published: 18th June 2026
The new Community Classroom and Outdoor Learning Space has officially opened at Holt Country Park.
Works were undertaken after the Council was successfully awarded a £100,000 grant from Ørsted's Hornsea 3 Legacy Fund for use in Holt Country Park.
The grant was used to build a new indoor/outdoor eco-learning space - the indoor learning hub will incorporate energy-efficient insulation, a sedum roof and rainwater harvesting. This space also includes learning stations to educate users on sustainability, environmental impact and local renewable energy production.
This building will be available to hire by local community groups as well as hosting regular community engagement events, where visitors can participate in activities such as tree planting, giveaways, volunteer conservation days, and family events.

Colin Brown, NNDC’s Leisure and Localities Manager, commented: "We are very excited to welcome local groups and schools to our new Learning Space, it's the perfect environment to learn about the natural world around us and to inspire creative hobbies.
We're also pleased to provide a base for our Muddy Boots volunteers, who worked hard along with our Rangers to landscape the area and continue to do look after our wonderful park.
Please keep an eye out for our booking form which will be available very soon."
Mel Vila Flores, Project Manager for Onshore Cables on Hornsea 3 for Ørsted, added: “The outdoor learning area is a wonderful space for nature-loving young people and community groups to grow their knowledge. Our aim at Ørsted is to create a lasting positive legacy in the communities in which we work and this eco-learning space is a perfect example of that.”
This grant funding is part of the Council's continued investment in its award-winning countryside parks.
Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm, an £8.5 billion infrastructure project, will be located 120 km off the coast of Norfolk and is currently under construction. As part of the region’s large and growing offshore wind energy sector, Hornsea 3 will deliver enough green energy to power more than 3.3 million UK homes.
