You may be entitled to a reduction of your business rates

You may be entitled to a reduction of your business rates if your business falls into any of the following:

• Small business rate relief

  Apply for a discount if your business has a rateable value of less than £15,000

• Lower multiplier for retail, leisure, or hospitality properties

  Apply for the lower rates multiplier available from April 2026 for occupied retail, leisure, or hospitality properties

• Rural rate relief

  Apply for a discount if your business is situated within a rural settlement

• Mandatory charity relief

  Apply for a relief if your property is used for a charity or Community Amateur Sports Club

• Discretionary reliefs (such as charity top up)

  If your property is used for a charity, you can gain further relief of up to 100% 

• Discretionary Reduction (Hardship)

  You may be able to get hardship relief if your business meets certain criteria

• Part occupied properties

  You may be able to get temporary relief if a part of your property is completely unoccupied in the short term, and fulfils certain criteria.
