What is an emergency?
The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 defines an 'emergency' as:
- An event or situation which threatens serious damage to human welfare in the UK
- An event or situation which threatens serious damage to the environment in the UK
- War or terrorism which threatens serious damage to security in the UK
Our Emergency Planning staff work with other responding agencies and organisations to plan for and mitigate for major incidents. We can help you to prepare for emergencies including flooding and severe weather and storms.
