The Crisis and Resilience Fund is designed to help support long-term financial stability

The UK Government has announced new funding to support people experiencing financial hardship. The Crisis and Resilience Fund is designed to help residents facing a sudden, unexpected payment or loss of income, while also supporting longer-term financial stability.

The fund will run for three years, from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029 and includes four main elements:

  • Crisis payment, previously known as the Household Support Fund
  • Housing payments, known as Discretionary Housing Payments
  • Resilience services
  • Community coordination

Further information will be published on this page as soon as it becomes available.

You can read the government guidance on GOV.UK.

The Household Support Fund is ending on 31 March 2026. If you are struggling with the cost of living, there is support available. For help with bills, food, housing, and more, visit:

If you are currently receiving a Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP), your award will not be affected under the Crisis Resilience Fund.

If you are currently in receipt of Housing Benefit or Universal Credit (Housing Costs) and you are struggling to pay your rent, you may be eligible for a DHP. Please visit Discretionary Housing Payments for further information and to apply online.
